What are Varicose Veins?
Varicose Veins are swollen and enlarged veins that are twisted and can lead the blood to flow in the wrong direction. The varicose can be seen in various colors including blue, red, and purple. These can be found in over 23% of adults. The veins have one-way valves that make sure the blood keeps flowing towards the heart but when the valves are damaged, it may lead to blood flow in the back direction putting more stress on the veins. This overload leads to a disease called varicose veins.
Varicose Veins Symptoms
- Continuous pain in legs, difficulty in walking
- Red, blue, or purple colour veins start bulging in the leg region.
- Legs start feeling heavy and sometimes give a burning sensation
- Bleeding in legs, numbness, or radiating pain
